Hello there,

We are BEGGAR'S BELIEF (yes the apostrophe is deliberate!) and we meet as often as we can to put together and add to a very wide range of songs gleaned from a wealth of performing and writing experience. If you've seen us perform you'll know how much we enjoy what we are doing!

We've known each other for many years, but played together for the first time in a stage show called "LOOK OUT!". which told Southampton's Titanic story in song. The show was written by Brian Hooper, Jeff Henry and our very own Barry Wake to commemorate the centenary of the infamous sinking and its terrible effects on the people of Southampton. The final performance was at the Turner Sims concert at Southampton University in April 2012.

As to what we do now, this is our favourite publicity shot to date, put out by Pete Campion for a gig at Folklights, Romsey :-

Take four voices (Ali Campion, Ann Stonehouse, Mary Lee and Barry Wake) and blend smoothly in harmony. Add generous helpings of guitar, fiddle, banjo, accordion and ukulele. Season the traditional mixture with home-grown flavourings, spice with humour, and you have the perfect recipe for a warm, relaxed and highly enjoyable feast of entertainment!

Sounds delicious and so easy to digest - can't wait for the next show! Whistle

Here we are at the last ever Folklights in February 2019 - still smiling!
